TORNADO WARNING: JACKS PLASTERED AGAIN, 8-2

Doucet, Thompson score for Odessa in third consecutive loss.

ODESSA, TX– In the final game of a four-game homestand, the Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Texas Tornado Tuesday at Ector County Coliseum by a final score of 8-2. With the loss, the Jackalopes’ third in a row and 11th in 12 games, Odessa remains alone in sixth place in the NAHL’s South Division standings at 4-13-2 overall this season.

Following a 9-1 defeat on Monday at the hands of the Tornado, the Jackalopes surrendered an early lead on Tuesday as well, when CJ Reuschlein netted the first of four opening period scores for the Tornado at 1:33. After Ryan Doucet’s fifth goal of the year briefly tied the game at 3:52, the NAHL’s leading goal scorer Brandon Hawkins notched two unanswered tallies at 6:52 and 15:51 of the first and Andrew Mayer topped off the Texas scoring in the opening period with a final-minute score to make it 4-1.

Two more Tornado goals in the second, from Jordan Paine and a hat-trick tally from Hawkins made it 6-1 Tornado, then in the third, Jackson Leef scored at 4:05 and Hawkins put the finishing touches on a four-goal night at 7:39 to extend the Texas lead to 8-1.

The final marker of the game went Odessa’s way as Pat Thompson rocketed his third goal and fourth point of the season past Texas netminder Jerry Kaukinen at 15:43 of the third on feeds from Dylan Campbell and Mason Wyman, but the late score was a drop in the bucket at that point for Odessa in the 8-2 loss.

Next up for the Jacks, it’s a Saturday night road tilt in Amarillo as the Jacks try to notch the first-ever regular season win over the Amarillo Bulls in franchise history on November 17th at Cal Farley Coliseum.
