Odessa, Texas (JAN, 25 2015) – The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that forwards Hampus Sjodahl, Gray Marr and defenseman Andrew McLean have been named to the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, presented by Easton, which will be held from February 15-16, 2016 at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan,
Sjodahl, Marr and McLean will represent the Jackalopes for the South Division squad, which is led by John LaFontaine, head coach of the Wichita Falls Wildcats, and the assistant coach will be Dan Wildfong, head coach of the Lone Star Brahmas. The tournament will include six teams (South, Central, Midwest, East, USNTDP 17-Team, NAHL Selects), which will compete over the two-day period. Last year, over 200 scouts were in attendance for the tournament including nearly every NHL team and Division I Program. According to NAHL.com, over a third of the players in the tournament were offered division I opportunities after the event.
Sjodahl, 20, leads the Jacks in a number of top categories through 35 games played, including goals (18), points (37), plus-minus (+11), power-play goals (6) and shorthanded goals (3). Marr, 21, is in his first year with Odessa and has been a top-line winger for the Jacks collecting the fourth-most goals (10), third most points (28) and a +7 rating. Drew McLean, 21, is in his third year with Odessa and is one of the team top d-man on both the power play and penalty kill. McLean has 18 points (3 goals, 15 assists) through 35 games and 51 PIM.
