Stanley Cup coming to Odessa

Odessa, TX — The Odessa Jackalopes are proud to announce that, in cooperation with the National Hockey League and the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Stanley Cup ® will be present for the Jackalopes home game on Friday December 21 against the Shreveport Mudbugs.

“It’s the world’s oldest existing professional championship trophy and to have it come to West Texas is an amazing opportunity. To give our long-time season ticket holders, sponsors, players and youth hockey families an opportunity to see it in person and get a picture with it, it’s a once in a life time chance for many.” Team President Kevin Leisgang states.

The Stanley Cup ® will be on public display in the concourse of the Ector County Coliseum during Friday’s game. There will also be a private party for sponsors and season ticket holders before the game. More information will be mailed out in the coming days.

At 126 years old, the Stanley Cup ® is the oldest existing trophy awarded to a professional sports franchise in the world. Since the NHL’s formation in 1926 the Stanley Cup ® has been awarded to the league’s playoff champion. The Stanley Cup ® is surrounded by numerous legends and traditions including allowing each member of the winning team to spend a day with the cup.

Friday December 21st is T-Shirt giveaway for the first 500 fans with doors opening at 6:00p.m.
