Scrimmage Gives Fans First Look at NAHL Jacks

ODESSA, TX- In front of over 100 Jacks faithful, the Grey Team topped the Red Team 5-2 in the Jacks inaugural NAHL Training Camp Scrimmage at MCM Ice on Friday night. Despite the start of high-school football season, scores of Jacks fans turned out to get their first look at the 2011-12 NAHL Jacks.

All told 27 Jacks players competed in the event, capping off week one of Training Camp as the team prepares for the September 14th season opener in Blaine, MN versus the Springfield Jr. Blues, and the 2011-12 home opener September 30th when the Jacks will host South Division rivals the Corpus Christi IceRays at Ector County Coliseum.

Dallas native Marcus Ortiz got the scoring going early for the Grey Team, tallying the first goal of the game less than two minutes into play. The Grey side would go on to score the first three goals of the game, leading things 3-1 after the first of two 20-minute periods. Despite the coaching prowess of former Jacks great Donnie Margettie, the Red Team was unable to rally in the second period, even with the aid of Jackalopes all-time leading scorer Sebastien Thinel, who filled in on the Red squad for injured Jacks forward Andrew Palushaj.

The Jackalopes will continue Training Camp Monday at MCM Ice at 10 am. All practices are free and open to the public.
