Rivers named NAHL South Division 2nd Star of the Week

ODESSA, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that goaltender Gunner Rivers has been named the NAHL South Division Second Star of the Week. Rivers earned back-to-back, 4-2, wins against the Topeka RoadRunners this past weekend to move 4-0-0 on the season with a 1.75 GAA and a .933 SV%.

On Friday, the Ottawa, ON, CAN resident made 25 saves on 27 shots to earn the win and on Saturday, he made 24 saves on 26 shots to complete the sweep. The Jacks acquired Rivers from the Lone Star Brahmas via trade on September 15.

Rivers was named a South Division honorable mention for the week of Sept. 21-28, going 2-0-0 in the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn. Rivers has saved 98 of the 105 shots he's faced this season.

Also, Jacks forward Hampus Sjodahl was named a South Division Honorable mention after recording four points (two goals/two assists) against the RoadRunners.

The Jackalopes head back to Wichita Falls this upcoming weekend for a two-game tilt on Friday and Saturday versus the first-place Wildcats. Odessa heads home on Oct. 22-24 for three games against the Amarillo Bulls.
