Release: Jacks face WFS for Military Appreciation Weekend

Odessa, Texas (FEB 3, 2016) – The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are gearing up for the highly anticipated Military Appreciation Weekend this Feb. 4-6 at Ector County Coliseum. The three-game series against the first-place Wichita Falls Wildcats features $1 hot dogs, half-priced beer on Thursday, February 4, Old School Wrestling Night on Saturday, February 6, and specialty Military Appreciation helmet auction following Saturdays game with a portion of the proceeds going to the Honor Flight.

Each Jack will wear an individually painted custom helmet over the weekend with unique red-white and blue themed Jackalopes decals. In addition, a veteran will autograph each helmet. 16 helmets will be auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds going to the Honor Flight, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing veterans with honor and closure. According the organizations website, “The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates 640 WWII veterans die each day. Honor Flight Network will continue to do whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of our veterans and help our heroes travel absolutely free.” With each helmet comes a photo of the veteran who signed the helmet and a brief description.

Old School wrestling Night’ meet-and-greet and Q-and-A with Hall of Fame Wrestler Scott Hall will begin a 4 p.m. on Feb. 6 and will go for two hours. At 6 p.m., three matches will begin with the OSW crew before Hall drops a ceremonial first puck before the Jacks and Cats game at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday’s Jackalopes games will feature half-priced beer from 6-to-7 p.m.

The Jacks will donate an estimated $50,000 to various non-profit organizations throughout the Permian Basin during the 2015-16.

In 2015-16, the Odessa Jackalopes will embark upon their fifth season in the North American Hockey League and 19th in the Permian Basin. Season tickets are on sale now!
