Odessa, TX (March 5, 2016) – The Odessa Jackalopes (21-23-4) allowed a pair of opening period goals and couldn’t recover eventually falling to the Corpus Christi IceRays (21-13-6) Saturday night at Ector County Coliseum, 3-1.
Andy McGlynn snapped a 25 game goalless drought Friday night and made it two-for-two when he potted his seventh of the season on a perfect top-shelf backhand. Cody Lichtenvoort then buried his third of the year when he picked his spot from the top of the near circle to give Corpus a 2-0 lead on the power play.
In the second, Brad Power scored his sixth goal of the year against Odessa and his 10th overall after a neutral zone breakdown led to a Rays two-on-one. Less than a minute later Derek Brown finally got the Jacks on the board by sniping a wrist shot past Dryden McKay on the power play. The goal extends his point streak to an NAHL leading 16 games. On the goal, Hampus Sjodahl extended his point streak to 10 games with an assist.
The Rays held of Odessa in the final period to secure a 3-1 win and a weekend sweep. The two points moved Corpus ahead of Odessa in the South Division standings with 48 points. Dean Shatzer (9-13-3) took the loss making 25 saves on 28 shots while McKay (11-9-2) earned the win stopping 27 of 28.
