Odessa, TX (May 23, 2016) – The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce forward Pierce Pluemer will forgo his final year of junior hockey to begin his college career at Air Force Academy in the 2016-17. Pluemer was scheduled to be a large offensive component on the Jackalopes roster next season and his absence will be sorely missed, but the Jacks are proud to be part of his development and wish him nothing but the best in the future.
Pluemer (6-4/201), who was originally scheduled to join Air Force for next season before the Falcons thought another year of juniors would be beneficial for the 20-year-old’s development, was recently reoffered a chance to join the program next year after a forward was deemed ineligible.
The Phillips, WI, native appeared in 35 regular-season games for the Jacks, collecting 16 points (9-7-16), 36 PIM and a minus-one rating. In three playoff games, Pluemer notched one point (1-0-1), two PIM and a minus-one rating. The left-handed shot began the season with the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) playing in 20 games, tallying six points (1-5-6), six PIM and a plus-one rating. Pluemer failed to score in his first 12 games as a Jack but finished off his career strong by scoring 9 goals and four assists in his final 18 games including a game winner and a plus-six rating.
The Jackalopes offseason continues on June 2-5 for the club's second pre-draft camp. The three-day camp will be held at Dwyer Arena on the Campus of the University of Niagara in New York.
