ODESSA’S AMARILLO DROUGHT CONTINUES AS JACKS FALL 6-1
Jacks fall to 0-12-0 all-time vs. Bulls in regular season.
AMARILLO, TX– In the third of twelve head-to-head games with Amarillo this season, the Odessa Jackalopes fell 6-1 to the Amarillo Bulls Friday at Cal Farley Coliseum at Amarillo Civic Center. With the loss, Odessa’s fourth in a row, in conjunction with a 7-2 win for Corpus Christi in Wichita Falls, the Jacks fell into last place in the NAHL’s South Division standings with seven total points and an overall record of 3-7-1.
For the second consecutive night, the Jackalopes kept the game close deep into regulation against Amarillo as Tyler Cayemberg’s third goal of the season, assisted by Mason Wyman and John Feemster at 4:51 of the first on a one-timer from high in the Amarillo slot, gave way to back-to-back goals for the Bulls from Clint Carlisle and Mike Davis later in the opening period.
Leading 2-1 entering the second period, Amarillo continued their onslaught just 95 seconds into the middle frame, as Davis notched his second tally of the game, the period’s only goal, to extend the Bulls lead. The Jackalopes began the third period with an optimistic attitude and just a two-goal deficit to overcome, but Amarillo quickly dissuaded any notion of an Odessa comeback, adding a TJ Sarcona goal just 15 seconds into the period, a Matt Sieckhaus marker at 2:03 and a Tyler Deresky insurance marker at 12:41 to set the final margin of victory for the Bulls at 6-1.
With the loss, Odessa fell to 0-12-0 head-to-head against Amarillo in the two franchises’ all-time regular-season series and 0-3-0 against the Bulls in 2012-13. In his sixth appearance of the season in net for the Jacks, Washington, Michigan native Jake Theut took the loss, stopping 37 of the 43 shots he faced to fall to 1-3-1 on the season.
After a 13-day lull in their schedule, the Jackalopes return to action on October 26th vs. the Topeka RoadRunners for Odessa’s 2012-13 home opener, set for a 7:05 pm faceoff at Ector County Coliseum.
In 2012-13, the Odessa Jackalopes drop the puck on their second season as a member of the North American Hockey League. Season ticket packages for the Jacks’ sophomore campaign are available now starting at just $179.
