New Voice of the Jacks: Michael Wisienski

ODESSA, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes are pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Wisienski as the new Director of Broadcast & Media Relations. Michael will be taking over the position previously held by Jason Ruff, who after three years as the voice of the Jackalopes is moving up to the SPHL with the Peoria Rivermen. You will be able to hear Michael call all home and away games this season on HockeyTV.

Michael, 25, graduated from Millersville University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Broadcast Communications. He was the play-by-play/color announcer for Millersville’s DII club hockey team for all four years he attended there. In his final semester at Millersville, he interned for the ECHL Reading Royals. That internship led him to land his first broadcasting job with the NAHL Jamestown Rebels for the 2018-19 season. The following year he became the first ever voice for the NAHL New Mexico Ice Wolves. With the season ending early due to the Covid outbreak, Michael is eager to get behind the headset once again. “There is nothing I miss more than the feeling of actually being at the games and hearing the crowd go wild as you’re making the goal call,” said Wisienski. He also went on to add, “I look forward to coming back to the South Division and getting to know a whole new community.”

Rick Matchett, President of the Jackalopes, had this to say about the new hire, “We were sad to see Jason leave but he’s advancing his career by moving to the SPHL. We’re excited about bringing Michael into our Odessa Jackalopes Family especially since he’s been in the South Division and the NAHL, which gives him a huge advantage. We’re glad he’s here and we can’t wait to have him calling his first Jackalopes goal!”

Michael will call his first Jackalopes home games October 28, 29 and 30 when the Jacks hit home ice for the first time of the 2021-22 season. All season tickets are 25% off in honor of the 25th year of consecutive hockey in Odessa. Secure your season tickets online or by calling 432-552-7825.
