Hired in the summer of 2020, Nate Skidmore comes to the Odessa Jackalopes as the program’s Assistant Coach and Goalie Coach.
A native of Syracuse, New York, Skidmore played four years at the Jr. A level before playing college hockey at the State University of New York at Potsdam College for four years with the Bears.
Skidmore holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science along with a master’s degree in management and leadership from SUNY Potsdam. He spent the 2019/20 season in the NCAA Div. I with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as a volunteer assistant coach and goalie coach with the Engineers. Skidmore brings experience in recruiting, video breakdown and analysis, individualized goalie development, player skill development and strategic team planning. His resume also includes positions at the NCAA Div. III level with SUNY Potsdam as a student strength and conditioning coach as well as personnel director.
“We are thrilled to add a person and promising coach like Nate to the Jackalopes family,” said Jackalopes head coach Jason Fortier. “I coached Nate several years ago in a spring hockey event and respected his maturity and passion during that event. He told me that weekend, at 19 years old, his true ambition was to work in hockey and possibly be a coach.”
