KUROIWA STINGS THE ‘RAYS WITH 30 STOPS IN JACKS 4-1 WIN

Jacks score three third period goals to notch their third straight victory.

ODESSA, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes, members of the North American Hockey League, were coming of their second two-game winning streak after a win on Friday night in Odessa against the Corpus Christi IceRays. The Jacks looked to complete the home sweep and take three of four from the fifth place IceRays on Saturday night. Jacks goaltender Yoshi Kuroiwa would make his seventh consecutive start in the Jacks goal. He was opposed to Forbes Ploszaj, who lost his last start to the Odessa Jackalopes on October 30th.

The Jacks got the scoring starting in this one at 6:43 of the first period. Joey Palumbo scored his fifth goal of the season off a backhander from deep in the slot. Chad Guderian drew the only assist on Palumbo’s goal that gave him points in the last eight games. The Jacks took a 1-0 lead to the locker room, despite being outshot 10-8.

Corpus Christi controlled most of the play in the Jackalopes zone in the second. Goals have been tough to come by as of late for the IceRays. Yoshi Kuroiwa kept the puck out of the Jacks net and score remained 1-0 going into the third period.

In the third, Corpus would finally capitalize on their momentum with a goal at 7:11 from Wes Michaud (mish-CHAAD). Michaud redirected a point shot from defenseman Grant Hutton behind Yoshi Kuroiwa. The Jacks regained the lead at 15:35 on a two-on-one goal from Lukas Laub. Leo Lumm chipped the puck off the boards to Laub who made a move on the IceRays defenseman and beat Forbes Ploszaj (plo-ZHAY) The Jacks would add another just 1:02 seconds later when newcomer Austin Fletcher scored his first goal as a Jackalope. He banged home a rebound off a Mathieu Briand shot. The Jacks would add an empty netter courtesy of Alex Alger, and the Jacks took a 4-1 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays.

The Jacks now head to Hidalgo, TX for two games against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Friday and Saturday November 8th and 9th. Fans can listen to the contests on the Jacks flagship radio station, Classic Rock 102.1 KFZX or watch on PPV http://www.nahl.fasthockey.com
