Blaine, Minnesota (Sept. 23, 2015) – Zach Zech lit the lamp at 15:41 of the second period to break a scoreless tie, but the Jacks couldn’t find more offense falling to the Minnesota Wilderness, 2-1, in game one of the NAHL Showcase at Schwan Super Center in Blaine, Minnesota.
In the first, both teams played full strength until Odessa drew a boarding penalty as time expired in the first period. The Jacks outshot the Wilderness in the first 10 to 5 but couldn’t find the back of the net.
In the second, the Odessa took a 1-0 when Zach Zech followed up a Ryan MacKeller shot, beating Wilderness goaltender Chase Munroe. Just a few moments later Minnesota tied the game 1-1 when Ryan Bloom snuck a wrister past Jacks goalie Dean Shatzer.
In the third, Minnesota took its first lead at 18:58 when Tyler Cline slid a tape-to-tape pass over to Mitch Slattery who buried the one-timer to make 2-1. Odessa failed to recapture the momentum after the Minnesota equalizer and go ahead tally. Both team combined to only commit three penalties, but neither team could take advantage with the extra man.
The Jacks drop the puck on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. against the Janesville Jets on Fasthockey.com and Classic Rock 102.
