JACKS PREPARE FOR REGULAR SEASON TUNE UP VERSUS AMARILLO

Fans can enjoy the action at Music City Mall free of charge.

ODESSA, TEXAS – The Odessa Jackalopes have spent the last two weeks preparing for opening night in Wichita Falls on September 13. Saturday night is the first chance for Greg Gatto and his coaching staff to see the Jacks compete in a game setting when they battle the Amarillo Bulls in preseason action at the Music City Mall in Odessa.

The Jacks are coming off of a trying 2013-14 campaign, that saw the team go 15-40-5 in the regular season. This year, the Jackalopes are primed to make a deep playoff run with six members of their 25-man roster committed to NCAA Division I schools.

Coach Greg Gatto, who is in his first full season at the helm, is optimistic about the 18th edition of the Odessa Jackalopes Hockey program.

“Our skillset, compete level, and goaltending is going to keep us in every game,” said Gatto. “We just have to find that consistency in our compete level. I felt like that was lacking at times last season.”

Gatto also stressed the importance of every game, whether it counts in the standings or not.

“You want to win every game,” Gatto emphasized. “But we also want to see what our young guys are going to bring to the table. It is an opportunity for this team to grab some confidence heading into a tough stretch to start the season,”

The Jacks will head to Wichita Falls on Saturday, September 13 to open the 2014-15 season. Jacks fans can listen to all the action on the flagship station for Jacks Hockey, Classic Rock 102.1 FM KFZX with Joey Battaino or watch the game live on FASTHockey.
