JACKS POWER PLAY STRIKE FOUR TIMES IN 7-3 WIN

Seven different Jacks player score in most lopsided win of the season

HIDALGO, TEXAS – The Odessa Jackalopes were coming off of a split in Wenatchee, Washington last weekend, and now set their sights on the Rio Grande Valley to take on the Killer Bees. The Jacks were 2-0-0 this season when opposing teams held their home opener, and tonight the Bees were set to open their home schedule.

In the first, the Jacks and Bees played a tight checking, well-contested first frame. The Jacks outshot the Bees 11-9, but neither Ben Johansson of the Bees nor Parker Butler of the Jacks would yield in their respective net. There was no scoring in the first.

In the second, the Jacks didn’t waste much time. 46 seconds into the period, Hampus Sjodahl scored his third goal of the season on a lead pass from Leo Lumm. At 9:42, Razmuz Waxin-Engback broke behind the Bees defense and beat Johansson threw the five hole to put the Jacks up 2-0. The Jacks would go up by three on Chad Guderian’s first goal of the season at 13:43 on the power play. Colton Schmidt would add his first career NAHL goal to put the Jacks up 4-0 after two.

“Obviously it’s a huge thrill for me,” Said Schmidt after the game. “We really had it going tonight and Soje made a great pass,”

Starting the third, 2:29 in Leo Lumm scored his first goal since returning to the Jacks from the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. The Bees would mount a mini comeback, cutting the Jacks lead to 5-3 midway through the third. However, Rio’s tough guy Adam Morrison took a five-minute penalty with only 5:55 remaining in the game. The Jacks would score twice on that man advantage courtesy of Derek Brown and newcomer Lane Valimont. The Jacks came up with a 7-3 victory and even their record at 4-4-0 on the season.

The Jacks go for the sweep of the Bees tonight at 7:15. Jacks fans can listen to the broadcast on Classic Rock 102.1 FM and FASTHockey.com
