JACKS REACH OUT TO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Players discuss ‘7 Habits of Happy Kids’ with Gale Pond Alamo students.

ODESSA, TX– Odessa Jackalopes players Tyler Minx, Nils Semjonovs, Matt Williams and Jacks captain Willie Faust , alongside Jacks mascot SlapJack, traveled Wednesday to Gale Pond Alamo Elementary in Odessa to discuss the ‘7 Habits of Happy Kids’ with students. The ‘7 Habits’ include being proactive, setting goals, putting work before play and developing solid listening skills, all things that hockey players must do on a daily basis in order to have a successful career.

The players gave a short presentation, then took questions from students. While Minx, Faust and Williams answered numerous questions about what life is like in the North American Hockey League, Liepaja, Latvia native Semjonovs provided unique insight on how to succeed in life, even when you’re far from home. SlapJack and the players also invited students and faculty to Thursday’s clash with the first-place and Division rival Amarillo Bulls at 7:05 pm inside Ector County Coliseum.

The Odessa Jackalopes celebrate their 15th Anniversary in 2011-12 and drop the puck on their inaugural campaign as a member of the North American Hockey League.  Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-7825 or by visiting the Jacks online at www.jackalopes.org.

Be sure to follow the Jackalopes on Twitter @LetsGoJacks all season long and don’t forget to ‘Like’ the official “Odessa Jackalopes” fan page on Facebook.
