ODESSA, TX- For the first time in franchise history, the Odessa Jackalopes took the ice in an official capacity as a junior hockey team, as they opened their inaugural NAHL Training Camp Monday at Music City Mall.
All told, 29 players were on hand for the first day of camp, including 15 forwards, 11 defensmen and three goaltenders. After two weeks of practices, the Jacks coaching staff will trim that number to 23 before announcing the team's first-ever NAHL roster.
The Jackalopes will hold training camp practices daily at 11 am at MCM Ice Arena in Music City Mall, and all practices are free and open to the public.
The Jacks open the 2011-12 season September 14-17 in Blaine, MN as part of the NAHL Showcase and open their home schedule Spetember 30th as they play host to South Division rivals the Corpus Christi IceRays at the Ector County Coliseum.
