Odessa, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes (5-4-0-1) fell to the Lone Star Brahmas (4-4-1-2) 4-1 thanks to three power play goals and four total goals in the third period. This was the first game these two teams have seen each other this season.
The Jacks lone goal came off the stick of Petr Miko on a power play in the 2nd period. Brett Epp (3-4-0-0) was in net to turn aside 37 shots on the night, but took the loss.
A power play midway through regulation gave the Jacks a chance at glory. Petr Miko was able to help that feeling on a pass from Lucas Herrmann that Peyton Frantti kicked over. Miko got down onto a knee and fired one past the Brahmas Mitchell Gibson in net for the 1-0 lead.
The third period got out of hand real fast. Entering the third period, the Jacks were on the penalty kill before a questionable call left the Jacks down two player. The Brahmas took advantage as they netted one of their own power play goals to tie the game at 1.
Justin Addamo would add one later for the Brahmas before a call late in the third period gave the Brahmas another power play, this time shorthanded. Lucas Herrmann got a game misconduct and a five-minute penalty for head contact behind the play.
The Brahmas were able to get two goals on that power play to increase and hold onto a 4-1 lead to victory.
Mitchell Gibson turned back 20 of the 21 shots he saw on the night while taking the victory.
The two teams are now tied as one looks to jump ahead tomorrow night to finish off the weekend at the Jack Shack. Puck drop takes place at 7:11 pm on Classic Rock 102.
