Jacks Lend a Hand at New Tech Odessa

Team website the basis for class project.

ODESSA, TX– Learners at New Tech Odessa got a dose of Odessa Jackalopes hockey this week as members of the team’s front office staff helped critique an in-class multi-media project Tuesday and Wednesday at the all-academic college-prep high school.

Jacks General Manager Joe Clark, Director of Broadcasting Tony Brown and Ticketing Director Scott Brumfiel joined sophomores and juniors in Ms. Hembree’s Digital Portfolio class to review student-constructed versions of the Jackalopes official website. Student groups worked together to utilize Photoshop, iWeb and other computer programs to design and construct their own ideas of what a sports team’s website should be.

Students collected video and audio at Jackalopes games, interviewed players, conceptualized and built each website in an effort to better understand both the technical aspects of website construction and the thought process behind team-specific branding and business decisions.

Clark, Brown and Brumfiel listened to student-presentations, helped grade the projects and provided insights as to the team’s real-world goals in terms of online marketing.

The Odessa Jackalopes celebrate their 15th Anniversary in 2011-12 and drop the puck on their inaugural campaign as a member of the North American Hockey League.  Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-7825 or by visiting the Jacks online at www.jackalopes.org.
