Jacks get money’s worth in 6-1 loss

North Richland Hills, TX (March 12, 2016) – The Lone Star Brahmas used three first goals Saturday night and held on for a 6-1 victory and a series sweep of the Jacks at NYTEX Sports Centre. The real story came at 14:59 of the third when the Brahmas and Jackalopes embarked on a full line brawl.

The Lone Star Brahmas exploded for three opening period goals on 15 shots. Dean Shatzer allowed a pair of tallies to Peter Kessel (13,14) at 8:40 and 12:57 before being pulled on 11 shots. Jon Flakne came in for Shatzer and allowed a goal to Hogan Davidson at 13:42, before Flakne had to leave the game after he was ran over by Lone Star’s Martin Mellberg at 15:27 of the first.

In the second, Pierce Pluemer (4) poked home a power play tally to get the Jacks on the board at 8:29, but Johan Lundgren (6) pushed the Brahmas’ lead back up to three on the man advantage at 17:05 to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes.

In the third, Lone Star sealed the deal with goals by Sean Giles at 11:02 and Dalton Skelly at 15:27. Odessa ended the game with 104 minutes of penalty infractions including five fighting major penalties.

Dean Shatzer (9-15-3) took the loss allowing five goals on 34 shots while Jon Flakne let one goal in on four shots. Corbin Kaczperski (21-6-2) earned the win by stopping 15 saves.
