JACKS FALL TO WILDCATS 4-0 IN SEASON OPENER

Wichita Falls outshoots the Jacks 45-18 and picks up 4-0 win.

Wichita Falls, TX- The 2013-14 season did not start out auspiciously for the Odessa Jackalopes. After an Exhibition split last week in Fort Worth, the Jackalopes struggled throughout the season opener in Wichita Falls. The lone bright spot for the Jackalopes was Goaltender Yoshihiro Kuroiwa. Kuroiwa made 41 saves in the losing effort.

The Wildcats dominated from the outset, outshooting the Jacks, 16-5 in the first period but Kuroiwa stood on his head, making save after save. There was no score after one period.

In the second period, a Jackalopes turnover lead to a 2-on-1 rush for the Wildcats that was finished by Kyle Bauman at 9:06. After a delay of game penalty to the Jacks, Bauman scored his second goal of the game at 12:01. The Wildcats outshot the Jackalopes, 17-4 in the second and took a 2-0 lead in to the locker room.

The Jacks showed some life in the third but every bid for their first goal of the night was answered by Wildcats Goaltender Chase Munroe. The Wildcats would add two more goals in the third and Munroe held on for the shutout.

The Jacks take on Wichita Falls again tomorrow September 14th from the Kay Yeager Coliseum at 7:05pm. Jacks fans can listen to the live broadcast on Classic Rock 102.1 KFZX or watch live on FASTHockey.
