Jacks fall to Brahmas in goalie duel at JackShack

ODESSA, TX— It was a goaltender duel in every sense of the word. For two periods neither side could find the back of the net.

That was until the Brahmas did midway through the third period as the Jackalopes (12-19-0-1) fell to the Lone Star Brahmas (14-14-2-4) 1-0 at the Ector County Coliseum on Saturday night.

Kade Phipps was in goal for Odessa as he squared off against Harrison Feeney for the Brahmas. Both goaltenders made solid saves in the first period. In the second period the Jackalopes had several odd-man rushes that they failed to convert on while the Brahmas sent more shots on net that forced Phipps to make some big saves.

The Jackalopes had three power plays in the second period, none of them they were able to convert on.

Despite starting the third period with some more good chances, the Jackalopes soon found themselves on their heels as Lone Star came on strong.

After Phipps made several saves in tight to his left, Andrew DeCarlo was able to poke the puck over the goal-line to break the deadlock and give the Brahmas the lead.

DeCarlo’s goal was all that was needed as the Jackalopes’ comeback attempt, hampered by several penalties late, sputtered and failed to force overtime for the second straight night.

The Jackalopes will have a week off the start the new year before they travel to Amarillo for a two-game series against the Bulls.
