Jacks fall 9-2 vs Amarillo

ODESSA, TX — Five goals by Logan Jenuwine, the leading scorer in the North American Hockey League, dug the Jackalopes into a hole they couldn’t climb out of. Odessa (15-23-1-1) fell to the Amarillo Bulls (31-5-2-2) 9-2 at the Ector County Coliseum on Friday night.

The Jackalopes started the game scoreless and with a majority of the chances in the first period. Then in the second Jenuwine and the Bulls opened the scoring less then two minutes into the second period. Quickly they got out to a 2-0 lead. In the latter stages two more goals by Jenuwine put Amarillo up 4-0 and a major penalty was assessed to the Jackalopes’ Brendan Coughlin that was enforced in the third.

The Amarillo Bulls scored four straight power play goals to put them up 8-0 within the first five minutes of the third period.

Odessa got a couple goals back though.

Jan Blasko scored off a two-on-one rush with Michael Giampapa. Blasko sand a hard shot low that beat Jason Grande five-hole to notch his second ever NAHL goal. Giampapa picked up his first NAHL point with the assist.

The Jackalopes scored on the power play thanks to James Crossman’s goal in the mid-stages of the third period.

Amarillo got one more with less then 30 seconds to go to finish up the scoring with a 9-2 victory.

Odessa will play the Amarillo Bulls on Saturday night, face-off is set for 7:11 pm.
