Jacks fall 3-1 to Lone Star

ODESSA, TX — The Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Lone Star Brahmas 3-1 at the Ector County Coliseum on Saturday night. The Jackalopes (15-22-1-1) finish the month of January with a 3-3-1 record.

The scoring started early for the Brahmas. Just over a minute in Vilho Saaraluoma found himself uncovered in the slot and sent a quick shot passed Jacks netminder Alex Camarre to make it 1-0.

Lone Star added to their lead from a point shot by former Jackalopes Eric Huss that found it’s way in through traffic to make it 2-0 Brahmas.

Both of Lone Star’s goals in the first period came in the first ten minutes.

Late in the first, while on a 4-on-4 James Crossman thought he scored a goal when a pass came from him to the point and he sent a shot that sailed into the back of the net. However the goal was waved off because a Jackalope had his foot in the crease.

The Jackalopes persevered and countered in the second period. A three-on-one led by Kellen Tharaldson found Jared Christy in front and Christy tapped in his 17th goal of the season the bring the Jackalopes within one as they trailed just 2-1.

However, shortly after that the Brahmas got a power play which they capitalized on to take a 3-1 lead. Lone Star held onto that lead for the reminder of the second period and throughout the third as the Jackalopes failed to complete the comeback.

The Jackalopes will host the rival Amarillo Bulls next weekend at the Ector County Coliseum for a two game series on February 1 and 2.
