North Richland Hills, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes (8-6-0-2) dropped their second straight game to the Lone Star Brahmas (9-4-1-2) on Saturday night at the Nytex Sports Centre by a score of 4-1. The defending champs were able to create a three-point lead over the Jackalopes for second place in the south with their victory.
Odessa received their offense from Lucas Herrmann as he scored the lone goal in the second period. Alex Camarre (4-2-0-1) was able to turn back only 36 shots while taking the loss.
The Brahmas got on the board first as Austin O’Rourke netted his 6th of the season only 8:27 into the first period on a 5-on-3 power play. They would get one more later as Aiden Spellacy stuffed one home in the crease for the 2-0 lead.
Nick Wilson was ejected from the game for a brawl with the Brahmas’ Kyle Hallbauer late in the first after he was ran into the board from Lone Star’s Justin Addamo. Wilson is not one to shy away from a fight, but Addamo did so Hallbauer stepped in, sending Wilson off the ice.
Odessa got a spark early in the second as Lucas Herrmann brought the Jacks back within one only 2:05 into the second period. Brandon Osmundson shoots one right onto the Brahmas logo of goaltender Mitchell Gibson with the rebound finding the stick of Lucas Herrmann, and subsequently, the eventual goal.
