JACKS CAP SEASON WITH ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET
Fans, players bid farewell to 2011-12 at end-of-season gathering.
ODESSA, TX– Accompanied by hundreds of fans, billet families and team sponsors, Jacks players, staff members and coaches capped off the memorable 15th anniversary season of Odessa Jackalopes hockey at the team’s annual ‘Regular Season Awards Banquet’ Wednesday at ‘Barn G’ of the Ector County Fairgrounds in Odessa.
Following a remarkable season in which the Jackalopes stormed back from nine points out of a playoff spot in the season’s final month with a ten win in twelve game stretch to close their inaugural NAHL campaign in postseason position in the South Division, the Jackalopes handed out awards to their top performers in 2011-12 and shared one final night of food and conversation with fans, with the Jacks’ black road jerseys being auctioned off to fans throughout the proceedings.
Among those recognized were 2011-12 ‘Bill & Tracey Nyborg MVP’ and ‘Rookie of the Year’ Connor Hellebuyck, ‘Rick Gasser Ironman’ Award winners Jalen Krogman, Darren Lapic and Ryan Atkinson, ‘Nick Lamia Community Spirit Award’ recipients Tyller Robert and Bryan Mitchell, the ‘Robin D. Smith Award’ winner for “outstanding commitment to the Jackalopes organization” Willie Faust, ‘Defenseman of the Year’ Tyler Minx, ‘Kyle Rodgers Character Award’ recipient Curt Rau and the Jackalopes’ leading scorer in 2011-12 and new ‘Sebastien Thinel Trophy’ holder Lawrence Cornellier. Atkinson was also recognized as the winner of the ‘Bob Hards 7th Man’ trophy.
