Jacks Announce Donation to Victims of Train Tragedy

Nov. 19, 2012

100% of ticket revenue from next two games will go to Complex Community Federal Credit Union relief fund.

ODESSA, TX– As a show of support and healing towards those affected by the recent train tragedy in Midland, the Odessa Jackalopes announced Monday that 100% of the organization’s ticket revenue from Friday and Saturday’s home games vs. Amarillo will be donated directly to the families of the victims of last Thursday’s horrific accident via the Complex Community Federal Credit Union relief fund.

Speaking at a Monday news conference at Ector County Coliseum’s Center Ice Club, Jackalopes part owner and Team President Dan Lavergne explained the Jacks’ decision. “When events like this happen, the natural reaction is to say, ‘How can we help?’ While money can never mend these families or overcome the tragic loss of these American heroes, we hope it can help those affected in some way to help start picking up the pieces.”

In addition to the team’s donation of the ticket proceeds from Friday and Saturday’s games, the Jackalopes will also hold a silent auction during both games, with several team-autographed and game-used items available for bid to all those in attendance with 100% of the proceeds also going to the Complex Community Federal Credit Union relief fund.

Also, fans attending Jackalopes games throughout the remainder of November are invited to make private donations to the CCFCU relief fund at a donation collection point located on the concourse at Ector County Coliseum in Odessa.

After a one-game road trip, the Jacks return home to the Jack Shack November 23rd and 24th for a pair of games vs. the Amarillo Bulls and the opening weekend of a six game homestand. On Friday, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will take home a Jacks Player Autographed Photo and on Saturday, it’s Jackalopes replica youth jersey giveaway night.

In 2012-13, the Odessa Jackalopes drop the puck on their second season as a member of the North American Hockey League. Season ticket packages for the Jacks’ sophomore campaign are available now starting at just $179.
