Jackalopes Shutout For Second Straight Night

Shreveport, LA – For the second straight night, Odessa couldn’t find the back of the net, as the Shreveport Mudbugs (33-6-3-2) shutout the Odessa Jackalopes (25-16-3-2) for a 2-0 win on Saturday. This was the third straight shutout for Shreveport over Odessa.

Cam Cook got the Mudbugs on the board late in the first period. After dancing in the corner, Shreveport fed the puck to the point where Cook made a beeline in front of the net to cut the puck out of the air. It ended up bouncing past Alex Camarre for the 1-0 lead with only 2:05 remaining in the opening frame.

Shreveport would add one more late in the third. The Mudbugs had an odd-man rush, where Camarre made the initial save, but the rebound found the opposite player, who buried one past the sprawling Camarre for the 2-0 lead and win.

Alex Camarre made 28 saves on Shreveport to increase his NAHL-best save percentage to, but took the loss. Jaxon Castor backstopped his way to his second straight shutout in his fourth start, stopping all 25 attempts coming from Odessa.

The Jackalopes are off the rest of the month, but return to action on March 2nd and 3rd when they travel to Corpus Christi to take on the IceRays in a very important battle down the stretch.
