Jackalopes Shut Out In Shreveport

Shreveport, LA – In a battle of the top two teams in the south division, it was the Shreveport Mudbugs (32-6-3-2) who fended off the Odessa Jackalopes (25-15-3-2) by a final score of 3-0. It was the first time these two teams have faced off since the November 18th matchup in Shreveport.

After a trading of chances in the first period, Shreveport broke through early in the second. Just under five minutes into the middle frame, Jake Transit carried the puck in for an odd-man rush. The late attacker for Shreveport was Andrew Lane, who picked up a drop pass from Transit and buried one high-glove on Odessa’s Brett Epp.

A little more than halfway through the third period, Shreveport headed to their second power play of the night, where it was Jack Clement who pinballed a shot past Epp for the 2-0 lead. Cam Cook would ice the game with 37 remaining on an empty netter.

Brett Epp made 29 saves in the contest while the offense couldn’t beat Gustavs Grigals on 20 shots. The Jackalopes were shutout for the third time this season, and the second time in Shreveport.

The Jacks and Mudbugs return to action tomorrow night at the Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, LA for the final Odessa game of February. Make sure to tune into the Town & Country Pregame Show at 6:55 pm, with puck drop taking place at 7:11 pm.
