Odessa, TX – Oakley Sunglasses and the Odessa Jackalopes have struck up a partnership to announce the Jackalopes Player of the Month Award. The first winner for the 2017-18 season is Zac Herrmann for the month of September
Herrmann has had a fantastic start to the season, racking up 10 points in his first seven games. Herrmann has seven assists to go along with his three goals, almost matching his total from last season in less than half the games.
“It’s really easy to succeed when you’re surrounded by such talented players,” says Herrmann. “It’s crazy to think we’ve been playing together for only a month; everyone has meshed so well together.
Herrmann is tied for 2nd in the league in scoring, along with teammate Evan Rochowiak, and has outscored the next closest defenseman by 4 points.
“His confidence level, his leadership, everything he’s taken to a whole new level,” explains head coach Greg Gatto. “He can take control of the game like he has done. We challenged him to do better and he’s proven that early on this season.”
As good as the points are, it’s about when the points seem to come for Herrmann. Zac has two game-winning goals, has assisted on one more game-winning goal, and has assisted on two other game-tying goals.
The Jackalopes look to continue their early season success this Friday and Saturday, October 6th and 7th as they take on the Shreveport Mudbugs for their home opening weekend.
