Jackalopes Honor Long-Time Supporter

Odessa, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes are proud to announce they will be wearing warmup jerseys for the rest of the season to honor a long-time Jackalopes supporter, Rick Coe. Coe has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been fighting for the past three months.

Rick has been more than just a fan to the Jackalopes organization. Coe has been a part of the regional club that helps raise money for Shriners Hospitals in Houston and Galveston.

Coe was vital in the inception of the Jackalopes annual Shriners Weekend, where proceeds of the jersey auction benefit the children at Shriners Hospitals. This season will mark the 10th Shriners Weekend with the Jackalopes. The organizations have raised over $500,000 together over the previous nine years.

Besides organizing the annual Shriners weekend, Rick has been also the organizer of the Jackalopes’ annual golf tournament that has been renamed the Rick Coe Classic. This year the golf tournament will be held on Monday, March 26 at Andrews Country Club.

The Jacks will debut the warmup jerseys this Friday, January 26th against the Corpus Christi IceRays. They will be auctioned off following the final game of the season on April 7th with proceeds benefitting Rick’s medical expenses.

The alumni weekend and specialty jerseys wouldn’t have been possible without the help of: Higginbotham Insurance, Baker Hughes, Hughes Oilfield, Southwestern Machine Products, Bud Light, and Ector County Abstract & Title.
