Jackalopes Edged in Overtime

Odessa, TX – In a turn of events from Friday’s matchup, the Odessa Jackalopes (23-13-3-2) were edged by the Corpus Christi IceRays (18-16-3-5) by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday in overtime. It was the final time this regular season the teams would meet at the Jack Shack.

The IceRays broke through first with a goal early in the second period. Garrett Hallford raced in along the right wing before firing a shot off from the right circle to beat Brett Epp low-blocker only 27 seconds into the opening frame.

After a back and forth first half of the third period, it was Petr Miko who got the Jack Shack rocking again. 8:21 into the final regulation period, Miko danced around the defense before wrapping it around Jake Acton for the tie game.

The Jacks would come away with only one point in the contest as the IceRays broke for an odd-man rush, leading to the one-timer from Blake Coffey for the win.

Brett Epp played fantastic, making 37 saves in the contest, including plenty of big saves. Acton made 37 saves as well while earning his first win over Odessa this season.

The Jackalopes are back in action next Thursday through Saturday, hosting the Amarillo Bulls for three games. It will be the only home games of February for the Jackalopes, as they hit the road for the following month.
