JACKALOPES ACQUIRE DEFENSEMAN CHRIS JAVENS FROM JERSEY HITMEN
The Jacks send Jesse Junttila the other way in deal to acquire Javens
ODESSA, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes, members of the North American Hockey League, have acquired Defenseman Chris Javens from the Jersey Hitmen of the USPHL Premier in exchange for Defenseman Jesse Junttila.
The 6’1” 187 lbs. Washington, D.C native, played most of his hockey career close to home, playing U16’s with the DC Capitals and U18’s with the Washington Little Capitals. In 2013-14, Javens was a member of the Skipjacks 18U team that featured the likes of current Jackalopes, Kenny and Christian Hausinger. In fact, Javens and Christian were partners on defense for the Skipjacks that season. In this, his first year of junior hockey, Javens has three points in twelve games but if you asked Head Coach Greg Gatto, he is more interested in Javens keeping pucks out, than he is at putting pucks in.
“We like the fact that Chris is a stay-at-home defenseman,” heralded the coach. “Plus, there will be some familiarity with Christian and Kenny (Hausinger) from last season,”
In exchange for Javens, the Jacks sent Jesse Junttila to New Jersey.
“We wanted to give Jesse and opportunity to play more,” said Coach Gatto.
Javens will be in the lineup on Friday night when the Jacks take on the Amarillo Bulls at the Ector County Coliseum. Puck drop is at 7:05. Tickets are available at the Ector County Coliseum box office, charge by phone at (432) 552-7825, and on http://www.jackalopes.org
In 2014-15, the Odessa Jackalopes will embark upon their fourth season in the North American Hockey League and 18th in the Permian Basin. Season tickets are on sale now! To reserve your seats, contact the Jackalopes’ ticket office today at 432-552-7825 or log on to www.jackalopes.org for more information.
