HANCOCK’S HEROICS NOT ENOUGH IN OVERTIME DEFEAT

Eric Hancock makes 38 saves in 1-0 overtime loss to the Amarillo Bulls.

AMARILLO, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes headed to Amarillo for a makeup date with the Bulls on Tuesday night. The game was originally scheduled for December 8th, but was postponed because of bad weather. The Jacks came into the contest winless in last four contests, while the Bulls had won four straight after a six-game losing streak. Eric Hancock made his 15th appearance in the goal for the Jacks as they looked to help out their goaltender by providing some offense. The Jacks had only scored four goals in their past four games coming into the game tonight.

The Jacks and Bulls played to a scoreless first period. Amarillo outshot the Jacks 12-5 in the first, but Jacks rookie stand-out goaltender Eric Hancock kept the Jackalopes in the game.

In the second, play began to open up a bit as the high powered Amarillo offense tried to bury the Jacks. Once again, Hancock had the answer for ever Amarillo bid. The Bulls outshot the Jacks 12-4 in the second, but it was an offensive stalemate through two periods.

In the third, the Jacks came on a bit and tested Bulls goaltender Collin Delia, but he was strong in net for the Bulls. Amarillo put 12 shots on Eric Hancock once again in the third, but he would not relent. Both teams picked up a point in a scoreless regulation.

In overtime, the Jacks got caught backing in on Roman Ammirato. He carried the puck over the Jacks line and snuck a backhanded shot over the blocker hand of Eric Hancock. The Jacks picked up their 22 point of the season in the 1-0 defeat.

The Jacks head to Corpus Christi on January 17th and 18th. You can listen to both contests with the voice of the Jacks Joey Battaino on the call at 6:50 on Classic Rock 102.1 FM KFZX and FASTHockey.com.
