GUDERIAN AND KREUTZER SCORE IN 6-2 LOSS TO ‘CATS
Jacks go winless in opening weekend against Wichita Falls
WICHITA FALLS, TX – After a disappointing 4-0 loss on opening night, Matt Cressman as his young bunch were hoping for a better result tonight as the Jacks finished up their trip to Wichita Falls. However, the Wildcats had other plans. Their offensive onslaught continued, this time on Goaltender Eric Hancock.
The ‘Cats scored first when Sam Pizza collected a rebound and fired the puck past a sprawling Eric Hancock. The Wildcats went up two just 56 seconds later on a goal by Air Force commit, Ben Kucera. The Wildcats outshot the Jacks, 13-5 in the first and took a 2-0 lead to the locker room.
In the second, the Jacks started the period shorthanded and Nick Farmer took full advantage. The Cats lead 3-0 early in the second period. The Jacks would score their first goal of the season at 3:29 when Chad Guederian stole a clearing attempt right at the Wildcats blueline and beat the Wichita Falls goaltender on the blocker side. Wichita Falls would answer right back. Jake Townsend scored at 15:10 to give the Wildcats a three goal lead again. The second period saw a spirited scrap between David Chavis II and Andrew Kerr of Wichita Falls, both landing some nice blows. It was a 4-1 Wildcats lead after two.
Wichita Falls added two more goals in the third to take a 6-1 lead. Just when the Jacks thought it was over, Jake Kreutzer scored the Jacks first power play goal of the season at 18:23 of the third making it a 6-2 game. That is how the game would end for the Jacks, falling to 0-2-0 on the young season.
The Jacks will be in Topeka on Monday night to battle the RoadRunners. You can hear the game live on Classic Rock 102.1 KFZX or watch live on FASTHockey.
