3-in-3:

Tomorrow marks the first 3-in-3 for the Jacks this season. They will play the first game against Lone Star and the last two against Corpus Christi. It will be the first time they see the IceRays this season. Odessa enters game one tomorrow coming off a sweep against the Amarillo Wranglers. The Brahmas are on a four-game win streak with their previous two wins coming against the Oklahoma Warriors.

Goals Against:

The Brahmas have allowed the fewest number of goals in the NAHL (38). They lead the league in goals-against per game with 1.73. Lone Star has only allowed nine goals in the first period which is the second-fewest in the NAHL. The Jacks allow an average of 3.68 goals per game which is the second most in the NAHL. The main reason for Lone Star’s success is Arthur Smith. He is ranked first in goals-against-average at 1.21 and second in save percentage with 0.946%. He is 8-1-0-1 and has three shutouts which are tied for the most in the NAHL. Lone Star has recorded two shutouts in their last four games. They have scored four goals in four of their last six games.

Out The Gate:

The Jacks have scored the first goal in the opening minute of their last three games. Odessa is 6-5-0-1 when scoring the first goal this season. Lone Star is 11-0-0-1 when scoring the first goal. Which is the best percentage across the NAHL (0.958). However, their only loss when scoring the first goal came against the Jacks back on Oct. 29. Odessa’s highest-scoring period is the first with a total of 24. That is the sixth-highest in the league. The Brahmas highest scoring period is the third (28).

 

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Brahmas (F: #23 – Will Laychur)

The 20-year-old is in his final year of junior eligibility. The Jensen Beach, FL native is second on the team in shooting percentage at 25%. The 5’10”/170lb. right-handed forward is in his first year in the NAHL and is ninth on the team in scoring (4G, 6A). Laychur has scored three goals and assisted on four in his previous six games. He was drafted #87 overall in 2022 by the Brahmas. Before reaching the NAHL, he spent 2021-22 playing in the NCDC for the Islanders Hockey Club (47GP, 17G, 20A). Finishing second on the team in points. Laychur played in both games against Odessa this season and recorded two assists.

Jackalopes (F: #28 – Tanyon Bajzer)

The Cleveland, OH native is in his last year of junior hockey. The 20-year-old is coming off the best weekend of his NAHL career after recording two goals and three assists versus Amarillo. His five-point weekend earned him South Division Star of the Week. The 6’1”/170lb. right-handed forward is tied for second on the team in points (18) and assists (9). He leads the team in shooting percentage at 19.6%. Last season, Bajzer had 29 points (18G, 11A) in his rookie season and finished sixth in scoring. Before reaching the NAHL, Bajzer played for Gilmour Academy (USHS-Prep) in 2020-21 and tallied 44 points (17G, 27A) in 47 games. Putting him second on the team in points.
