Odessa, TX – The Odessa Jackalopes would like to congratulate Frank Dovorany and Dayne Hoyord on reaching 100 NAHL games. The Jackalopes are a member of the North American Hockey League and play out of the Ector County Coliseum located in Odessa, TX.
Jacks Captain Frank Dovorany Hits 100 NAHL Games
The Wausau, WI native spent three years playing for Wausau West High (USHS-WI) before reaching junior hockey. He totaled 70 games for them and finished with 21 points (8g, 13a). In 2018-19, Dovorany played 20 games for Team Wisconsin (UMHSEHL) and tallied 12 points (3g, 9a). That same year he was drafted #211 overall by the Omaha Lancers (USHL). He played a total of 36 games for Omaha. In 2019-20, Dovorany played 49 games (8a) for the Madison Capitols (USHL).
The 6’0”/185lb. left-handed defenseman started his NAHL career with the Austin Bruins in 2020-21. He played 50 games for them that season and registered ten points (1g, 9a). The 20-year-old started this season by playing nine games (1g, 2a) for the Bruins. He was then acquired by the Jacks in October. Since joining the Jacks, Dovorany has played in 41 games and has scored 13 points (3g, 10a). He was also selected as the captain by his teammates in the second half of the season. Dovorany has the third-most points by a defenseman on the team (4g, 12a). He has a plus/minus of 13 which is the third-highest on the roster.
“Reaching 100 games in Odessa is more than I can ask for. The teammates and fans we have here will make this year for me unforgettable,” said Dovorany. Frank is in his final year of junior eligibility and is committed to Michigan Technological University.
Dayne Hoyord Reaches 100 NAHL Games
Prior to playing junior hockey, the Scandinavia, WI native spent three seasons playing for Stevens Point Area High (USHS-WI). He played 68 games for them and recorded 115 points (59g, 56a). He finished in the top-three in scoring each season. In 2019-20, Hoyord played 48 games for the Northern Cyclones (NCDC). His 41 points (12g, 29a) put him fourth on the team in scoring. Hoyord was drafted #252 overall in 2019 by the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL).
His first season in the NAHL was in 2021-21 with the Jacks. Hoyord played 52 games in his rookie season and ended with 19 points (7g, 12a). Earning him the fourth spot on the team in points once the season concluded. He was even selected in his first year to represent the South Division at the 2021 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament (2gp, 1a). So far this season, the 19-year-old has scored two hat tricks and returned to the Top Prospects Tournament (2gp, 1g). The 5’10”/195lb. right-handed forward is currently third on the team in points with 28. However, he leads the team in goals with 19. He is tied for the most game-winning goals with four and leads the team in shooting percentage (15.8%). Hoyord is just the 13th player to reach 100 NAHL games in a Jackalopes jersey.
The Army commit had this to say about his milestone, “When I came to Odessa, I did not know what to expect. I found out quickly that I was welcomed with open arms. Not many players can say that they have played their first 100 NAHL games with the same organization.” Hoyord went on to add, “I am very thankful to Odessa for giving me my shot and I am going to do my best to continue to make the most of this opportunity.”
