Odessa, TX (April 9, 2016) – The Amarillo Bulls scored three opening period goals Saturday and cruised to a 6-1 win over the Jackalopes in the season finale at Ector County Coliseum.
The Bulls found themselves on the man-advantage three times before the 14-minute mark of the first and took advantage scoring on their second power play at 3:34 off the stick off Coale Norris (10). Joey Molinaro (17) snapped an 11 game goalless drought and made it 2-0 Bulls at 16:45. Charlie Singerhouse (13) then capped off the Bulls three-goal first with a top shelf snipe of the right shoulder at 17:20.
In the 2nd, Brennen Miller (9) went along the goal line and around the crease to beat Anton Martinsson on the power play at 12:14. Less than a minute later, Tyler Hall pushed the Bulls lead back up to three with a high-slot shot over the glove of Jon Flakne.
The Bulls put the game well out of reach with third-period goals by George Mika at 3:06 (14) and Michael Forman (7). Jon Flakne (7-5-0) took the loss stopping 41 shots while Martinsson (11-30-4) was stellar earning the win by making 39 saves.
The Jackalopes will return home for game three of a best-of-five first round playoff tilt with the Wichita Falls Wildcats on Friday, April 22 at Ector County Coliseum. Tickets start as low as $5.
