Brown Named South’s 2nd Star of the week

Odessa, Texas (JAN, 25 2015)The Odessa Jackalopes, members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are proud to announce that left-wing Derek Brown has been named the South Division’s 2nd Star of the Week. Brown had four points in two games against Corpus over the past weekend including an overtime game winner against the Rays on Friday night.

Brown’s nomination makes him the fifth Jack this season to be named a 2nd Star of the Week in the NAHL South Division (Brandon Tucker 9/28, Gunner Rivers 10/12, Eric Carreras 10/26, Hampus Sjodahl 11/16). Brown has been one of the hottest players in the NAHL over the last month and a half. The Peoria, Arizona native has points in 19 of his last 20 games (5-21-26) including an NAHL season-high 14-game point streak (5-14-19).

The Niagara (Atlantic, D!) committed winger spent the offseason with the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL) before rejoining Odessa the day before opening night on September 12 at Amarillo. The third-year Jack is first on the team in assists (36) and second in points (45). Brown has nine goals this season in 46 games with a plus-four rating and three game-winning goals.
