Alex Camarre commits to UMass

ODESSA, TX — Alex Camarre announced on Friday that he has committed to the University of Massachusetts to continue his hockey career at the Division 1 college level.

Camarre played for two seasons in Odessa accumulating a 29-26-1-2 record with a 3.06 career goals against average and a .914 career save percentage during his time in the North American Hockey League. His two shutouts last season against the Brahmas were his fourth and fifth career NAHL shutouts respectively.

Known for his acrobatic saves and aggressive goaltending, Camarre backstopped Odessa to some of their biggest wins last season against Shreveport, Amarillo and Lone Star. Camarre’s 29 career wins are the most of any Jackalopes NAHL goaltender, surpassing the record previously held by current NHL star Connor Hellebuyck.

He also becomes the sixth Jackalope from last season’s team to commit to a D1 institution and the seventh to make a college commitment.
