TORNADO BREEZE PAST JACKS, 10-2

Krogman tallies two points, Mezzano scores in ninth straight Odessa defeat.

FRISCO, TX– In the ninth of twelve scheduled regular season meetings between the two teams this season, the Odessa Jackalopes fell to the defending Robertson Cup champion Texas Tornado by a final score of 10-2 at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, TX on Friday night. With the loss, the Jacks fell to 5-30-2 overall this season and with 12 points, remain alone in sixth place in the NAHL’s South Division standings.

Justin Greenberg started the scoring for Texas at 8:50 of the opening period with the first of his two Friday goals, assisted by Alex Temby. After an Odessa counterpunch on a Jalen Krogman unassisted score at 9:31, the Tornado took the lead again at 12:21 on Jason Eddy’s eighth goal of the season.

Texas seized control of the game in the second period, as the Tornado rattled of five unanswered goals, from Greenberg, Brandon Hawkins, CJ Reuschlein, Nick Neville and AJ Duggan respectively. Hawkins’ goal, assisted by Mitchell McPherson and Scott Conway at 10:27, was his league-leading 30th of the season and his Tornado-leading 44th point.

In the third, Mike Mezzano perked up the Odessa offense with his second goal of the season, assisted by Krogman at 5:50, but a trio of late goals by Texas’ Jordan Paine, Conway and Tornado captain Jackson Leef made it 10-2 and spelled doom for the Jacks.

Next up for the Jacks, it’s a Saturday rematch with the Tornado with the opening faceoff set for 7:30 pm at Dr. Pepper Arena.
