JETS BOMBARD JACKS 4-0

Penalties doom Odessa in third Showcase outing.

BLAINE, MN– Despite a strong performance from netminder Justin Davis, the Odessa Jackalopes fell to 0-2-1 on the season Friday, thanks to a 4-0 loss to the Janesville Jets on day three of the 9th annual NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN. Davis stopped 39 of 43 shots in his first performance of the season as the Jets scored three of their four goals on the power-play.

In a game that was riddled with special teams opportunities, the Jets took advantage of eight Jackalopes penalties, going three for eight on the power play while holding the Jacks scoreless with the man advantage on seven power-play chances. Jacks forward Sheldon Taylor was held off the scoresheet for the first time this season, playing Friday with six stitches and a broken nose, an injury suffered in the first period of Thursday’s game with Traverse City.

After a strong first period in which the Jacks outshot their opponents 14-8, Janesville came out firing in the second, peppering Davis with 22 shots to the Jackalopes’ four. The Jets held the edge in shots again in the third period 13-9, finishing the game with a 43-27 advantage. Janesville’s Chris Cattivera, Trevor Landgraf and Connor McBride all scored on the power-play with Jordan Bancroft’s second period tally the only Jets score coming at even strength.
