Odessa, Texas (NOV 27, 2015) – Jacks goaltender Dean Shatzer turned in another tremendous outing, but the Wichita Falls Wildcats proved too lethal in the shootout, beating Odessa, 2-1, Friday night at Ector County Coliseum.
Friday’s game was no doubt the Jacks best performance against the Cats this season, earning it first points in six tries. In the shootout loss, Shatzer (4-5-0-2) made 34 saves on 35 shots. In the last two games, the Castle Rock, CO native has stopped 74 of 76 shots faced.
After a scoreless opening frame that saw each team go 0-1 on the power play, Wichita Falls struck first in the second period, when Austin Albrecht beat Shatzer at 7:13 on a snapshot from the high slot. The Cats had a chance to add on to its lead but failed to so during the only power play of the period.
In the third, Odessa used a triple redirect to tie the game at 12:24 and forced overtime on Gray Marr’s fifth of the year. After both teams traded chances in overtime but couldn’t break through, the two teams went to a shootout.
In the shootout, Adam Goodsir became the hero, beating Shatzer far-side top shelf. Justin Kapelmaster earned the win (13-1-1) making 34 saves on 35 shots.
