Jackalopes Bull Rush Brahmas

North Richland Hills, TX – Blake Bride netted two goals and Alex Camarre put up a gem as the Odessa Jackalopes (12-10-1-1) rout the Lone Star Brahmas (14-8-2-2) at the Nytex Sports Centre on Friday night by a score of 5-1. The victory was the Jackalopes first against the Brahmas this season.

The Jackalopes kicked off the scoring  with only 4:09 remaining in the first period. Matt Brown stickhandled in the attacking zone before he tossed one towards the net that Blake Bride knifed down, past Mitchell Gibson for the 1-0 lead. The period ended with Odessa on a 5-minute penalty kill as Lucas Andersson got a game misconduct and a 5-minute major for a head contact penalty.

Odessa killed off the penalty and continued the onslaught as they netted three power play goals in the second period alone. Peyton Frantti sniped the first 2:43 into the middle frame. James Crossman would add one more on a drive through traffic 10 minutes later, before Blake Bride capped it off with his second of the day on a beautiful pass from Matt Brown.

Brown threaded the needle for a wide-open backdoor as Blake Bride took a one-timer past Gibson, sequentially ending his night. In the period, the Jacks had their second fight in as many games as Zac Herrmann got tangled up with Austin O’Rouke after a hit up high on younger brother, Lucas Herrmann.

The third period was just as good for Odessa as Dylan Johnson netted his second tally of the season 11:21 into the 3rd period on a beautiful snipe from the right circle past relief goaltender, Harrison Feeney.

The Brahmas broke up an Alex Camarre shutout with only 2.2 second remaining as a power play goal barely fluttered it’s way past the goal line from Michael Montambault. The Jackalopes finished off the final few seconds, and closed out the game.

Alex Camarre stonewalled 25 shots from the Brahmas offense while Lone Star’s tandem only made 25 saves of their own. Jackalopes power play and penalty kill were both 3-4 on the night as well.

Jackalopes and Brahmas return to action tomorrow night in the final game at the Nytex Sports Centre between the two squads this season. Puck drop will be at 7:30 pm and you can catch all the action on Classic Rock 102.
