Internships

The Odessa Jackalopes are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates for our 2017 Season Internships. Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience in the fast-paced, results driven world of the NAHL.

The 2017-2018 Jackalopes Internship program will last through April 2018.  Interns are also expected to commit to the full term of the internship.  Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends for events and games.

 

Business Operations Internship

Position Overview:
The internship program offers hands-on experience in all aspects of the sports industry through implementing and planning events and activities leading up to and through the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season. All Interns will be an integral part of the Jackalopes sales team by assisting in all aspects of selling, fulfilling and executing sales initiatives. Interns will also provide support for grassroots marketing, ticket sales events and Odessa Jackalopes game days. Interns will also have a chance to set up and appear in the community as SlapJack at multiple events throughout the season. Interns will report directly to the President of Business Operations, Kevin Leisgang.
This internship is for outgoing, hardworking individuals who want to pursue a career in sports.

Responsibilities:
• Manage Team Donations
• Organizing Charitable Events
• Assist in Executing Various Grassroots Marketing Activities in order to Drive Ticket Sales and Brand Awareness.
• Assist on Game Days with Sales, Marketing & Service Initiatives.
• Miscellaneous tasks given by the President of Business Operations

Internship Requirements
• Working towards a four-year college degree or graduate degree or recent graduate in Marketing, Business Administration, or Sports Management
• Transportation in the Odessa Area
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Strong professional attitude
• Experience in the sports industry preferred

 

Media Relations Internship

Position Overview:
The internship program offers hands-on experience in various aspects of the sports industry through implementing and planning events and activities leading up to and through the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season. The Media Relations Intern will help design print ads, graphics, website ads and content, invitations and other printed and electronic materials. Interns have an opportunity to take part in the broadcast during home games. Interns will report directly to the Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting, Cody Lefkowitz.
This internship is for outgoing, hardworking individuals who want to pursue a career in sports.

Responsibilities:
• Design Print Ads, Graphics
• Maintain Jackalopes Website
• Write Press Releases
• Prepare Game Notes
• Coordinate Media Interviews for Players/Coaching staff
• Assist with Media Requests and Needs During the Season
• Organizing Weekly Information including the Game Release, Player Features, Statistical Updates and Notes
• Game day Responsibilities Throughout the Course of the Season
• Miscellaneous tasks given by the Director of Media Relations

Internship Requirements
• Working towards a four-year college degree or graduate degree or recent graduate in Graphic Design or Communications
• Transportation in the Odessa Area
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects)
• Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Strong professional attitude
• Experience in the sports industry preferred

 

Hockey Operations Internship

Position Overview:
The internship program offers hands-on experience in various aspects of the sports industry through implementing and planning events and activities leading up to and through the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season. The Hockey Operations Intern will help players and coaches get ready for the upcoming practices and games. Interns will report directly to the Head Coach, Greg Gatto and Associate Head Coach, Cody Campbell.
This internship is for outgoing, hardworking individuals who want to pursue a career in sports.

Responsibilities:
• Set up Bench for Practice with towels, water bottles, coaches board with a marker, and practice pucks
• Clean the Locker Room every day
• Set up the Locker Room for home games
• Set up the bench for the game with water bottles and towels, take extra sticks to the bench, supply the score keeper with game pucks, and make sure the visiting team is set in their locker room
• Do laundry after every practice and game
• Ability to Sharpen Skates
• Assist with Travel Arrangements
• Assist with Video Breakdown
• Assist with Practice
• Miscellaneous tasks given by the Head Coach or Associate Head Coach

Internship Requirements
• Working towards a four-year college degree or graduate degree or recent graduate in Sports Management
• Transportation in the Odessa Area
• Knowledge of Sharpening Skates
• Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Strong professional attitude
• Experience in the sports industry preferred
